How the number is built
Four steps, all visible.

Refunds
Monthly orders × return rate × average order value. At the defaults that is 250 × 20% × $50, or $2,500 refunded.

20% treated as fraud
$500 of that $2,500. Change the return rate if 20% is not your store. The fraud share stays at 20% so the figure is comparable.

One check per return
50 checks, not 10. You do not know which returns are the fraudulent ones until the customer photographs the item live.

Subtract the plan
50 checks is Starter at $29. $500 − $29 is $471 a month, $5,652 a year. In pounds or euros the plan stays in dollars and is not subtracted.
VerifiedReturn does not decline the refund. You see the photos and a pass, review, or fail, and you decide. If the plan costs more than the estimated fraud at your numbers, the result says so.

How is the fraud figure calculated?
Refunds are monthly orders times your return rate times average order value. This calculator treats 20% of those refunds as fraud. That 20% is an assumption you can see, not a measured catch rate.
Why one check per return?
You cannot tell which returns are the fraudulent ones until you look. The plan is sized for a check on every return, not only the 20%.
Does VerifiedReturn decline the refund for me?
No. You get live photos and a pass, review, or fail. You still approve or decline.
Which plan does this recommend?
Up to 10 checks a month is free. Up to 100 is Starter at $29. Above that is Unlimited at $99. You are charged when a customer submits photos.
